NanoWrimo 2016

Jo toinen vuosi kun voitan kyseisen novellin kirjoituskilpailun. Lyhenne NanoWrimo tarkoittaa Nathional writing month. Olen ollut jäsen jo 8 vuotta ja nyt olen löytänyt itsestäni voimaa ja itsevarmuutta jahdata tuota taianomaista 50, 000 sanan maalia. Viime vuonna sain lähes 70,000 sanaa kasaan noin parissa viikossa ja nyt meni 11 päivää saavuttaa 50, 000 ja novelli sai päätöksen noin 60, 000 sanaan. Olen iloinen molemmista saavutuksista. 

Viime vuonna päädyin hahmoihin ja taustoihin jotka olleet läsnä vuosikausia erilaisissa tarinoissa ja nettiroolipeleissä, ainoa muutos oli että päähahmoni Alexandre McGregor muuttui Scarlett McGregoriksi ja sitä myöten myös hahmo muuttui kovasti toisenlaiseksi mutta nyt hahmot löysi oikeanlaisen tarinan jolla he matkasivat maaliin, tosin tarina on yhä keskeneräinen ja odottaa jatkoa joko samaiseen novelliin tai yhteen projektiini jonne tämänkin vuoden hahmot saattavat eksyä jos en halua erillistä jatko-osaa tehdä molempiin. Tämä yhdistävä projekti on haastavampi koska siinä kerrotaan useiden hahmojen tarinaa osittain, mutta se olisi erilainen projekti joka voi jatkua ties kuinka kauan kun hahmoja tulee ja menee. Sekin voi toki muuttua radikaalisti eri ympäristöön. 

Viime vuoden novelli Star crossed lovers oli minulle tunnerikas kokemus nauruineen ja itkuineen ja elävöitti minut heidän seikkailuihinsa. Tänä vuonna novellini An affair to remember seikkaili uusien hahmojen kanssa ja tiedän että novelli tarvitsee jatkossa 1-3 uusintoa saadakseen lopullisen muotonsa ehkä jopa eri päätöksellä, mutta pidän luomuksestani epätäydellisenäkin romanttisena draamana jossa seikkailevat Aensworthin riitaantuneet veljekset ja heidän yhteinen romanttinen kiinnostuksen kohde, Lucrecia Moonbell.  Ehkä joskus julkaisen näitä novelleja luettavaksi teille. 

Laitan alle pätkän novellin alusta, en ensimmäistä lukua koska se on suomeksi ja haluan pätkän olevan kielellä jolla muu novelli on kirjoitettu.

It is second year as I win this particular novel writing competition. Short term NanoWrimo comes from words National writing month that takes place in every November. I have been member eight years already and now I have found from myself strength and confidence to hunt that magical 50, 000 words goal. Last year I got almost 70, 000 word written in about two weeks and now I hit 50K in eleven days and my novel had it's end in almost 60K. I am so happy about both of those victories.

Last year I ended up with characters and backgrounds that has been present to me for years in my youth in different settings and stories and internet role play games. Only change was that Alexandre McGregor turned out to be Scarlett McGregor which changed this main character much different but now my characters found rightful storyline to follow and they got to the finish line. Story is still unfinished though and waits for sequel in that same novel or in one of my other projects where my this year's nano characters might end up too if I do not want to make sequels in both novels differently. This uniting project would be more challenging as there we follow multiple character's lives in parts but it would be very different kind of project to me that could go on and on as characters comes and goes. It can change also rapidly in totally different setting.

Last year's novel Star crossed lovers was to me very emotional experience with laughs and cries and enlivened me into their adventures. This year's novel An affair to remember adventured with new character's lives and I know it need few times to overwrite it to get it's final form maybe even with different ending but I like my creation even as incomplete form of creation of romantic drama where adventures Aensworth's disputing brothers and their mutual love interest Lucrecia Moonbell. Maybe sometime I will publish these novels to you to read and criticize. 

Heres piece from the beginning, not first chapter as it is still in Finnish so I prefer give you part that is in language that rest of the novel is.

Lucrecia stared at herself in the mirror in her bathroom, examing herself. She reminded her mother who had passed away eight years ago. She had been ten years old when her parents died in that terrible car accident. From that day on she had been raised by her grandfather Charlie who was gentleman by book. He had raised her with good manners and tight discipline. She had studied her elementary school in catholich boarding school in Florida and had just graduated from there.

She had hated it all the way as she didn't like to dress up in uniform and living in religious manners but she swallowed it all as it had been Charlie's wish that his granddaughter would be raised in same athmospere as his daughter. But Lucrecia had made him promise that after graduation she would have approval to do as she saw fit her life. Today was her birthday and her friends were going to take her to secretive glamorous party in New York.

She sighed and raised eyebrow at herself before putting towel around herself and walked into her room to select red underwear and chose then black jeans and red top. She tied her hair up and put some rock music playing as she sat down to do her make up quickly.

”Lucrecia, breakfast is ready, hurry up! You are going to miss your train soon!” Charlie shouted from the kitchen. Charlie was gentle man deep inside and had given plenty of cases to laughter in her childhood and she cherished her time with him. But she was now adult and ready to explore the world on herself without his guidance. She wanted to make mistakes, fall in love deeply with totally wrong guy and be dirty, all those things that she had been denied all these years. Well, she had few little romances in boarding school but there was so strict athmosphere that there was no room for playing around. She frowned as she remembered that time she was busted from kissing her first so called boyfriend and how she had gotten herself in detention for that. Charlie was so unhappy with her manners that she had to spend amost all her winter holidays inside for that mistake.

She ran to kitchen sitting down and pouring tea to Charlie's and hers cups politely.

”Good morning, Charlie! How is your morning?” she asked.

”Good morning to birthday girl and happy birthday as well indeed!” Charlie announced politely as he sat down front of her thanking then for tea.

”As every morning this far, marveously. I am going to spend this day with my gents in the club and trying not to worry about your trip to New York”, Charlie said then looking at her serious look on his face.

”Oh, you shouldn't worry about me. I am adult now and I am able to take care of myself you know. I have to learn how to cope by myself as I won't stay here forever”, she replied cheerfully.

”I know, that horrifies me nevertheless. You are adult but still so young and eager to lose your track with all this freedom”, Charlie said.

”You should be happy now as you can start your retirment without taking care of me. You have earned some peace and quiet, granpa”, she said then.

”Responsibility of you will never expire, Lucrecia. I am only one left to look after you and as long as I live I shall look after your well being. You aren't job I have been given, you are the legacy of our family”, Charlie pointed out.

”I want to make sure that your parents could be proud of you in Heaven”, he continued then. She sighed deeply. Of course he thought everything more deeper than she did. She was anxious to have her adventures without thiking about what anyone might think of it.

”I will keep that in my mind”, she answered then.

After breakfast she packed everything she needed for her trip to New York and hurried to train station after saying farewell to Charlie and getting nice amount of money as birthday gift. She was so excited that she couldn't relax at all. She called to her friend Luna who would be picking her up from train station.

”I am in the train. I am free to do whatever I want! Oh God I am going to faint soon!” she said cheerfully as Luna replied.

”Happy birthday Lucrecia! I am happy to see you again and we have tickets to most fabulous party ever! You will have so fab time with us that you won't ever return back to that small boring town!” Luna laughed.

”I am going to move away as soon as possible. Charlie thinks I should get into university and pick place that way but I think I would like to get some silly work and just have fun for while so all open for options here”, she said eagerly.

”Actually I am going to move in London after summer as my studies starts there and I have been looking for apartment that I could share with few people. If you don't feel like staying in USA you could join me”, Luna proposed suddenly totally new idea.

”Oh my God! That's brilliant idea, Luna! You know my mother and Charlie is from United kingdom and I have always dreamed of living there and get to know my roots. I have to keep that option in my mind”, she said excited. Luna giggled.

”Yeah, your accent gave you away first day we met in elementary school you know”, Luna said. They had met in elementary school while she still lived in New York. They kept contact even after she had to move away with Charlie and met every holiday.

”I will be at train station when you arrive, we will chat more then, okay?” Luna asked then.

”Defenately! See ya!” she said and closed her phone. She sighed again and looked our from the window. United Kingdom was out there waiting her to come and explore all the possibities that country has to offer and it gave her chills.
